May 28th : Guilin

Having said goodbye to the rest of the crew last night we are off early for another internal flight.
The flight wasn't until lunchtime but the traffic was shocking. We passed the expo site and I have never seen so many tourist buses in one massive car park. As you see it was heavy rain.

Guilin is a city in southern China known for its dramatic landscape of limestone karst hills. At its center are 2 lakes, Shanhu (Cedar) and Ronghu (Banyan), remaining from a medieval-era moat that once surrounded the city. Boats travel through these and other lakes via connected rivers.
Population 4.7 million (2010), so just a large town in Chinas standards.

It was mid afternoon before we arrived at Guilin, time to climb the local hill to get a scenic view over the city.

Then onto our hotel. It is an unusual hotel in that every night for 5 minutes they cascade water from the roof over all the windows and have it all light up
