Let's explore China

May 16th to May 17th: Beijing

We have been in Beijing a few days now this being the final destination of our Trans Siberian Railway trip from Moscow which we have just finished. (Yes thee is a Blog of that leg) The first leg has just been Carolyn and I now we join a Group and meet for the first time tonight with our tour guide Tom. Turns out the group is 11 people including us and all from Australia.

First stop Tiananmen Square, its early but already it is getting crowded

Great Hall of the People

National Museum of China

Monument to the People's Heros

In front of Chairman Mao Zedong Memorial Hall

It is still early but already there is a long que to get into the Mausoleum, think we will pass on going in.
Over the road from the square is the Imperial Palace which is the next stop.

This place is massive in size and a city in itself. We will not have time to see it all.

It was a Peking Duck restaurant for dinner and  chance to sneak back to the square to see it by night.

We continue our journey and see the summer Palace which was a short bus trip from where we were staying.
The Palace of course set on a lake with cool breezes and away from the city noises.

after the crowds at the Imperial Palace this was very relaxing
